In 2011, Natalie Whitlock, founder and CEO of
Impact, was invited to bring a few volunteers to teach English and US culture at a Chinese summer camp. Natalie had been working with Chinese exchange students for several years and was fascinated by the prospect of going to China.
This first taste of China was unlike anything Natalie and the volunteers that came with her had ever experienced. The impact this experience had on both the volunteers and their students was greater than they could have imagined.
Natalie envisioned building an organization of people who loved experiencing other cultures and were passionate about making a positive change in the world. Soon after, Impact was founded.

In 2016, a US and Chinese partnership was forged,
making Impact a truly international organization.
Impact continues to grow and seek new opportunities. We are committed to promoting intercultural understanding between the United States and China through a diverse range of educational and cultural programs and service experiences.
